2008 Goals

01 January, 2008

Here are some goals for Freeway in 2008.

We are committed to making Freeway rock solid. There are a number of major tasks which we will complete this year including a complete rebuild of the front end templating, localisation, definintions of APIs for extensions and biggest of all, a review and rebuild of the database structure.

These are big challenges but in our opinion, the world needs an enterprise class open source eCommerce platform and we want to provide it.

Of course, there will be any number of minor features added and we really want to nurture community built extensions this year too! So get coding.

Look forward to some fun with Freeway!

I'm wondering if it makes sense to start work on an extensive extension to Freeway if you will be redesigning your database structure. It seems that this should be complete prior to me starting work on my extension.

I epxect that I'll need to expand certain tables to add special fields. For instance, we need to track if a location for a "study group" (kinda like workshops) has pets or smokers present, and display this, or offer it as selection criteria, when searching.

When do you think the database structure work might be taking place?

Thanks,
gk
